AFIJJIO IS VALUE

Goodbye to abandoned carts...

For many in diaspora, there's excitement about the fashion, beauty and lifestyle products being produced in Africa. Unfortunately, that excitement often dies when they encounter the high shipping costs and duties it takes to get these products over to North America. When you multiply those costs by the number of brands these shoppers are interested in, you're left with a slew of abandoned carts.

Well, what if these products are already in North America so shoppers no longer have to bear the cost of transcontinental shipping?

That's exactly what Afijjio does. By cutting out the logistic fees, we're encouraging shoppers to make it past checkout.

AFIJJIO IS COMMUNITY

"If you want to go far, go together."

Collaboration is the only way African products can compete on the global stage. By bringing several brands together, we're able to have a stronger presence than any of the brands can achieve individually.

This is only the beginning for us. We are actively growing our roster of brands to truly represent the best of Made in Africa. Collectively, we are scaling geographic boundaries to bring boundless options to consumers.

OUR NAME HAS ROOTS

AFIJIO, OYO, NIGERIA

Afijjio is named after Afijio, a Local Government Area in Oyo State, Nigeria which is the hometown of Doyin Amao— our founder.

The place is a coalition of towns that came together because they realized they had more political power as a united front. So, even though the name Afijio is an acronym for the towns (Awe, Akinmoorin, Fiditi, Ilora, Imini, Jobele, Iware, Iluaje, Oluwatedo, and Ojutaye), to us it represents a collective.

A CHANCE ENCOUNTER

HOW AFIJJIO WAS BORN

It all started at a pop-up shopping event where Doyin was exhibiting for her fashion brand, OAMA. What was supposed to be just another customer interaction ended with the question "where can I find more stuff like this?"

For Doyin, that passing question was a lightbulb moment. It occurred to her that there was space for more African brands to capitalize on the opportunities she was uncovering for her brand.

That moment led to a chain of actions that resulted in what is now Afijjio.
